Itala M. Loffredo D’Ottaviano is Full Professor of Logic and the Fundations of Science at the University of Campinas (Unicamp). She is a founding member of the Centre for Logic, Epistemology and History of Science (CLE) and of the Brazilian Logic Society (SBL). She was director of CLE (1986-1993; 2004-2009), president of the SBL (1994-2003; 2011-2014), president of the Committe on Logic in Latin-America of the Association for Symbolic Logic (ASL, 1993-1999), and Provost of Graduate Studies at Unicamp (2013-2014). She is member of editorial boards of several journals, and the creator and editor of the Collection CLE, a collection of books in the fields of logic, epistemology and history of science, with over 80 published volumes. With several books published, her work focuses on logic and foundations of mathematics, history and philosophy of science, algebra of logic, non-classical logic, universal logic, theory of self-organization and systemics. She received several Brazilian and international awards such as the Aristotle Medal by the Academy of Sciences and Humanities of the Stagira Institute of Heiger Studies of Mexico. She is a member of the International Academy of Philosophy of Science (AIPS), Brussels, being currently of its Council.
